Pretty, Comfortable and Functional - WIWW

I apologize yet again for the poor quality of these photos as I'm still using my iPhone since my DSLR camera charger is MIA. Maybe by next week we'll be back in business!

Multi-functional outfits are a must for me these days since I go from Mommy mode, to work, to errands then back to mommy mode, with no time in between to change clothes. I managed to wrap all of my favorite things into one outfit by keeping it pretty, comfortable and functional.

Boots, tights and cardigans are my everyday winter essentials. But throw in some pretty jewel tones and a skirt with an elastic waist, and I'm in heaven. For whatever reason, I feel like I can conquer the world and can actually live in this outfit.

Confident and Classic City Chic - WIWW

I must first apologize for the quality of this week's pictures. My camera charger is missing and I've officially killed the battery, so these pictures were taken with my phone. If I still don't have my charger by next week, maybe I will do a What I Wore Wednesday post using my selfie stick! Yep, you read that correctly, I have a selfie stick and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

So there I was, out for one of the first times since having Charlotte and I came across this poncho at Ann Taylor on the clearance rack. It wasn't like anything I've ever bought, but when I tried it on, the transformation was instant. I no longer felt insecure or frumpy; I felt stylish and chic! Needless to say, this little gem went home with me. And now over a year later, I still find it to be one of my favorite pieces especially on a day when I need a confidence boost!

Outfit Details:
Poncho//Ann Taylor
Black Jeans//White House Black Market
Heels//old

I can't help but feel like Mary Tyler Moore when I wear this outfit which for some reason raises my sass level tenfold (I feel bad for my colleagues). Regardless, we must all have an outfit that makes us feel a million bucks no matter what the day throws at you. This goes to show that you don't always have to be super dressed up to feel fabulous.

What is your go to outfit that makes you feel on top of the world? Do you wear it enough? I challenge all of you to dig out that outfit, article of clothing or even accessory and wear it this week to give yourself a well deserved ego boost!

Monogrammed Quilted Vest - WIWW

Who's ready to bust out that fall wardrobe? I know I am! You hear me say it every year, but this is truly my favorite time of the year for so many reasons. The weather, the holidays, the clothes, these are just a few reasons why this time of year makes me giddy. Speaking of clothes, how cute are these Old navy vests?! As soon as I saw these with their adorable gold zippers, I just knew I had to have one (or 2). And once I got these bad boys home, I slapped on a gold monogram and voila, my most favorite wardrobe piece was born!

I don't normally buy things in this color, but I decided that I needed to try something other than my standard red, pink and blue. I'm kinda diggin' the green and find it super easy to incorporate into my current wardrobe. For this outfit I kept it simple and paired it with boots, jeans and a white tee. So there you have it, my new essential wardrobe piece; the quilted vest.

I will be posting these vests for sale on my Instagram account this weekend only. Sizes, colors and quantities are limited, so be sure your following for all the latest sale updates. They will be $45 monogrammed and shipped.

WIWW - Team Spirit

Football is back and I couldn't be happier! Even though my team (The Washington Redskins) breaks my heart season after season and causes unnecessary anxiety in my life, I still love them. I am a fan through and through, and will represent the burgundy and gold week in and week out, win or lose.

With tomorrow being the last preseason game before it starts to count, I decided to show my team spirit all while maintaining a semi business casual look.

I'm obsessed with this Redskins scarf. I found it at Walmart last season and it is the perfect alternative to wearing a jersey or a team t-shirt.

I went with an edgier look for me by pairing my scarf with skinny ankle zip pants, gold heels and a leather cuff (notice the bow?) Of course my "edgy" look still has a preppy side. For a more conservative look, simply pair with your favorite cardigan.

Are you a football fan just dying to show off your team spirit at work? If your company has a dress code, get creative with ways to sport your team colors or accessorize with your team's logo like I did with the Redskins scarf. If you don't need to worry about a dress code or being work appropriate, think of fun new alternatives to the standard jersey and jeans game day look, because let's face it, who wants to show up to a party wearing the same thing as everyone else?!

WIWW - Hi-Low Dress

Are we still talking about all things hi-low? To be honest, I'm not really sure, but I do know that I found this handy little dress at Walmart and thought it would be the perfect addition to my summer wardrobe. That's right, I said Walmart. Every now and again I will stumble across something somewhat trendy and cute for less than $20 so I go for it!

This dress was no exception. I fell in love with the color and the hi-low style of this dress seemed to work just right for me.

For a more laid back casual look that I can wear to work and out on the weekends, I paired it with a white jean jacket, my Jack Rogers and one of my handy dandy bow bracelets.

What do you think? Do you ever find some of your favorite pieces at a bargain store? If so, which one?

Like Mother Like Daughter - WIWW

The second I found out I was having a girl, visions of matching outfits instantly popped into my head! I know my time is limited where I can get away with this, so while I have the chance, we shall match!

The best part is my friend has the exact same dress from Old Navy and decided she wanted to dress like her little girl too. Good thing we weren't together at the time!

It's only a matter of time (already working on it) before we have an entire matching wardrobe! It's probably a good thing/dangerous for my budget that I found this site that specializes in mommy and me outfits! I think next spring I will be splurging and buying us one of these "just like mommy" dresses.

In the meantime, we will continue to match as best we can with what we've got especially when what we've got is coordinating Lilly Pulitzer! Thank goodness for consignment shops and Freecycle Facebook groups!

Summer Fashion - Baby Style

This past weekend was super busy with parties and cookouts so it seemed only fitting that Charlotte bust out her summer wardrobe. There were two outfits in particular that I've been dying to have her wear and she managed to rock them both over the weekend!

I always see these smocked outfits and I think they are so cute, but they are usually so expensive! So when I saw this adorable outfit pop up on a Facebook freecycle/yardsale site for just $10, I jumped all over it. The fact that it was in her size was fate!

Judging by her smile, I think she approves of this outfit as well. I paired it with a red headband and red bow, and she was ready to party!

Charlotte's first Lilly was given to her by one of my friends before she was even born. After waiting what seemed like forever, she can finally wear it! It's the perfect summer outfit and how can you not love those matching bloomers?!

For now, I think it's safe to say that this child loves her Lilly like her Momma.

Of course I had to wear my Lilly too!

My First Lilly Pants - WIWW

The warm weather is here to stay, which can only mean one thing...it's Lilly season! In case you are new here, let me fill you in, I LOVE Lilly Pulitzer. And now that I'm not pregnant (Lilly really needs a maternity line), it means I can wear Lilly all day everyday, right?! If only it were that simple.

As I was dusting off my Lilly's that haven't seen the light of day in nearly two years, I notice something; all the tags seem to have really small numbers written on them. Oh yeah, two years ago I was a much smaller person and didn't just have a baby. What's a Lilly lovin' girl to do?!

To the sale racks! Or should I say discount sites? Rue La La saves the day and has an epic Lilly sale just in the nick of time. When I saw these pants I new it was meant to be, then I saw the only ones left were in my (post baby) size and it was fate.

I'm still a long ways away from being comfortable doing outfit posts with my new post partum body, which explains why some weeks I don't even post an one. Even though I see so many things I want to change in these pictures, I'm posting it anyway because I can't keep these amazing pants to myself.

Outfit Details:
Shirt//Target
Cardigan//Target
Pants//Lilly Pulitzer
Shoes//Jack Rogers

My favorite thing about these pants is that they are made of denim and not that stretchy cotton that tends to show every flaw, bump and line. Can we also talk about the cute little added detail of the zipper at the ankle? Yeah, so basically these are my new favorite pants. If only they were a little more inconspicuous, I would wear them at least once a week!

Let's not forget, Charlotte has the matching bow, so getting these pants was definitely a must!

I may or may not have already borrowed it.

The Perfect Dress - WIWW

When going through my pictures from past "What I Wore Wednesday's", I realized that I seem to always be in some form of red, white and blue. I swear I wear plenty of other colors! Needless to say, I think it's time to challenge myself and see how long I can go without a patriotic themed outfit!

Since this week draws an end to my favorite color scheme, it's only fitting that I share an outfit that means something. While in Disney last week, my husband saw this dress and immediately knew I had to have it, so he brought it home for me as a nice little surprise. What makes this dress Disney you ask? Look in the bottom corner and you will spy a little Minnie Mouse. I know, nerd alert, but I can't help it, I'm a sucker for Disney merchandise!

Besides being in my favorite color scheme and featuring my favorite mouse, this dress has another amazing element....bows in the back! Seriously?!

I think it's safe to say that this dress incorporates ALL of my favorite things: Red, white and blue, stripes, bows AND Minnie Mouse!

What are some of your fashion must haves? Do you have a particular color scheme or patterns that seem to constantly draw you in?

Pre-Pregnancy Pants - WIWW

For the past 4 months, every time I got dressed I would optimistically try on a pair of pre-pregnancy pants and about half way up, I would give up and slowly peel them off all while telling myself, "Maybe next time". This morning, like every morning, I gave them another shot. I can't even put into words the excitement of being able to button them and walk around my room while breathing! They didn't look painted on and were work appropriate. Could this day get any better?!

Outfit Details:
Pants//LOFT
Jacket//Old Navy (old)
Top//Motherhood
Shoes//DSW (old)

I still have a ways to go, but this was just the breakthrough I needed to keep me motivated. I am finally seeing progress and I can't wait to be able to rediscover my wardrobe all over again!

Pretty and Simple - WIWW

I haven't participated in a "What I Wore Wednesday" post in a while. Partly because we had a bunch of rain that didn't make for pretty pictures, and also due to my lack of post pregnancy wardrobe. I'm slowly starting to pull out my spring clothes from before I was pregnant to see what fits. It's a daunting and depressing task but also rewarding when one of my favorites fits again!

This dress was one of the few that fit and I couldn't be happier. I had forgotten this dress even existed so needless to say when I found it I was ecstatic!

Not only does this dress fit well, but it's comfortable and light, work appropriate and I don't have to worry about what necklace to wear...WINNING! (I'm the worst at accessorizing)

So there you have it, one of my favorite go-to work dresses is from one of Target's guest designer collections. You can't beat that right?!

WIWW - Teal and Gold Edition

It's April and it looks like spring has finally sprung! To celebrate, I packed up the tights and busted out the bright colors. It's amazing what adding color to your wardrobe can do for your mood. I'm walking around with a little extra spring in my step today (pun intended)!

Best part of this dress? It has pockets!

Black and Brown

For as long as I can remember I never wore black and brown together. In fact I would go as far as chant "Black and brown you wear a frown!". Over the past few years, mixing black and brown has become a trend. I stayed away from it for a while and then I caved. If a dress is made with both black and brown in it, then I can accessorize with both, right?!

So there you have it, a little black, brown and animal print for my edition of What I Wore Wednesday! I hope you are inspired to mix it up a little and step out of your color comfort zone.
